The Steps

Step by Step
  1. 01

    Sunscreen Base

Apply a thin layer of waterproof, oil-controlling sunscreen in the direction of your pores, focusing on the T-zone and areas prone to sweating. Wait 30 seconds for it to set before moving on to prevent pilling.

Pro tipUse a pea-sized amount of sunscreen. Thin layers are more effective than one thick layer.

    Long-Wear Base

Blend a thin layer of waterproof long-wear foundation all over your face using a damp beauty sponge. Blend well around the nose and jawline — avoid thick application to prevent clogged pores and caking.

Pro tipA pea-sized amount of foundation is enough. Building thin layers lasts longer than applying one thick layer.

    Concealer & Powder

Dot waterproof concealer on dark circles and blemishes, then blend with your fingertips. Tap off excess product from a powder brush, then lightly dust all over your face to set. Add an extra layer to the T-zone for oil control.

    Feathery Brow Look

Use a waterproof brow pencil to fill in sparse areas at the tail of your brows, following the direction of your hair growth. Then, comb brows upward with clear waterproof brow gel for a natural, feathered finish.

Pro tipChoose a brow pencil one shade lighter than your hair color in a brown tone to avoid a harsh, heavy brow look.

    Matte Eyeshadow Base

Pick up a matte warm earth-tone eyeshadow, tap off excess powder, then sweep a thin layer across your lids. Bring it to the outer third of your lower lash line to reduce puffiness without looking muddy.

    Eyeliner & Lashes

Use a waterproof gel eyeliner pencil to fill in gaps along your upper lash line, extending a natural 3mm wing at the outer corner. Curl your lashes, then apply two coats of waterproof mascara, and a light coat to your lower lashes.

    Natural Nose Contour

Pick up gray-toned contour powder, tap off excess, then lightly sweep along the outer edges of your nose bridge. Avoid the brow bone and eye socket, and don’t connect the lines at the bridge of your nose — keep it subtle enough that others won’t notice, but it still adds natural dimension.

Pro tipLess is more. Heavy nose contour can look muddy once you sweat in hot weather.

    Face Contour

Use a contour brush to lightly sweep contour powder under your cheekbones and along your jawline. Add a little shadow along your hairline to refine your face shape, blending edges seamlessly so there are no harsh lines.

    Subtle Highlight

Use your fingers to pick up a small amount of dewy highlighter, then dot it on the high points of your cheeks, brow bones, and tip of your nose. Blend it out — avoid applying it over a large area to prevent looking overly oily in high heat.

Pro tipChoose a dewy, finely milled highlighter, not a chunky glitter formula.

    Blush for a Natural Flush

Pick up matte coral blush, tap off excess, then lightly sweep it on the apples of your cheeks, blending upward toward your temples for a natural, healthy glow. Avoid applying it in a circular patch, which can look muddy.

    Soft Matte Lips

First apply lip balm and wait 30 seconds. Blot off excess oil with a tissue, then apply a thin layer of orange-brown matte lip mud. Soften the edges for a blurred lip line and a velvety matte finish.

Pro tipChoose a waterproof, long-wear lip mud to prevent fading and transfer in hot weather.

    All-Over Setting

Hold setting spray 20cm away from your face and spritz in an X shape, 3-4 sprays total. Let it air dry naturally — don’t fan your face. Once set, your makeup will be fully locked in.

Pro tipDon’t touch your face while it dries, or you’ll break the setting film.
