The Steps

Step by Step
  1. 01

    Prep with Sunscreen

Take a coin-sized amount of high-SPF sunscreen, dot it evenly across your forehead, cheeks, and chin. Blend it out with your fingertips, covering your whole face, the area in front of your ears, and your neck. Let it set for 30 seconds to avoid pilling.

Pro tipFor outdoor commutes, choose SPF50+ PA++++. For indoor days, SPF30+ works.

    Lightweight Concealer

Use your fingertips to apply a small amount of lightweight concealer to areas with redness, blemishes, or dark circles. Gently blend the edges without building up heavy foundation, so you keep the natural glow of the sunscreen underneath.

Pro tipIf you have very little skin imperfection, skip this step and wear only sunscreen.

    Targeted Setting Powder

Dip a large brush into a tiny amount of translucent setting powder, tap off the excess, and press it lightly onto your T-zone, oily areas around the nose, and under the eyes. Keep the glow on your cheeks; don't set your whole face heavily.

Pro tipIf you have dry skin, only set oily areas around the nose to avoid drying out your face.

    Natural Feathery Brows

Use a light brown eyebrow pencil to fill in gaps at the tail of your brows, following hair growth direction. Brush through the front of your brows with a spoolie to create a hair-like effect; don't draw harsh, blocky brows.

Pro tipIf your brows are already full, just comb them into place.

    Neutral Eyeshadow Base

Use your fingertip to apply a thin layer of light milk-tea matte eyeshadow across your entire eyelid. Sweep any leftover product along your lower lash line to brighten and de-puff; no need to layer darker shades.

Pro tipPick low-saturation milk-tea brown eyeshadow; avoid red tones that make eyes look puffier.

    Fill in Inner Eyeliner

Use a brown kohl pencil to gently fill in gaps along your upper lash line. Only extend the outer corner 2mm; don't draw thick, winged black lines, so your eyes look naturally bright.

Pro tipFor inner double lids or puffy eyes, only fill gaps between lashes and don't make the line wide.

    Light Coat of Mascara

Curl your lashes in three sections, then apply a thin coat of brown mascara. Lightly brush through lower lashes only; avoid clumpy, spidery lashes.

Pro tipSkip lower lashes for an even more natural look.

    Soft Nose Contour

Dip a small fan brush into gray-toned light brown contour powder, tap off excess, and sweep lightly from below your inner corners along both sides of your nose to the tip. Add a tiny bit of highlight on the nose tip; don't draw two harsh dark lines.

Pro tipAs a beginner, it's better to apply less product than to press too hard.

    Subtle Face Contour

Use a large brush to pick up light gray-brown contour, then sweep and blend lightly under your cheekbones and along your jawline to define your features. The color should be faint enough to barely notice.

Pro tipFor rounder faces, add a bit more along the jawline to slim the face.

    Shimmer Highlight

Use your finger to dab a small amount of fine champagne highlight onto the high points of your cheekbones, brow bones, and cupid's bow. Don't apply it over a large area to avoid emphasizing pores.

Pro tipIf you have noticeable pores, avoid applying highlight on the center of your face.

    Soft Blush

Dip a fluffy brush into peach blush, tap off excess, and sweep lightly onto the apples of your cheeks, blending upward toward your temples for a natural, from-within flush.

Pro tipWarm skin tones should pick peach-apricot shades; cool skin tones should pick soft pink.

    Lip Prep

Apply a layer of lip balm, then blot away excess oil with a tissue to prevent later lipstick from settling into lines or looking patchy.

Pro tipIf you have flaky lip skin, gently exfoliate first before applying lip balm.

    Sheer Lip Tint

Apply a thin layer of peach-rose glossy lip tint, then blend the edges with your finger for a stained lip effect. Don't cover your entire lips fully, which can look heavy.

Pro tipFor an even more everyday look, apply only to the inner lips and blot together.

    Setting Spray Finish

Hold the bottle 20cm from your face and spritz setting spray in an X and T pattern. Let it air dry naturally to blend the makeup seamlessly while keeping a sheer, dewy finish.

Pro tipIn summer when you get oily, spritz an extra half pump; in winter for dry skin, use less.
